Description

In this Euro auction I offer +40 eggs of Austrolebias gymnoventris 'Salamanca' (Uruguay).

This species is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful South American Killifish, with shines from gold to turquoise, slipping through greens and blues along the fins and body and black patterns in the form of vertical lines with strong contrasts.

A. gymnoventris have been recorded only from four populations, a total area of occupancy of less than 10 square km. IUCN criteria B highlights all those species that present a conservation status with some degree of threat according to the extension of their geographical distribution area. According to this criteria, A. gymnoventris should be placed in the category of critically endangered species. Sadly, this is not yet "official" because IUCN has not yet studied the case of this species. Anyway, this difficult situation means that its captive maintenance in our tanks is very important.

A. gymnoventris are easy to keep and breed. The fry eat brine shrimp from birth. Cold-resistant species, suitable for unheated aquariums, they spawn even at 12-13 Celsius degrees, which are the lowest temperatures reached annually in my aquariums.

I will send the eggs the next days after the payment arrive (Paypal only + 6% fee). The shipping will cost 8 Euro to EU and 14 Euro worldwide. I can't be responsible for hatching rates, sex-ratio, possible belly-sliders, dissolved eggs on arrival, overheating or undercooling, customs issues, damage to packaging and unexpected problems during transport. I don't ship to Brazil.

Happy bidding and fishkeeping. Enjoy the hobby!
